Mussoorie Jungle Trail (MJT)

The Mussoorie Jungle Trail (MJT) is our second trail run in the Mussoorie region and is truly an ‘all mountain trail’ running event.

The route is a completely unpaved, narrow mountain trail that will be composed of rocks and dirt. Both categories of 12 km & 24 km start together from Jabber Khet. On the way from start you will first come to Coulti Village, followed by Matholi Village. Just before Matholi is where the 12 km runners turn back from. The 24 km runners carry on and cross Matholi, on their way to Kanda Jhak, where an ancient temple is located. The u-turn point for the 24 km runners is 3 kms further from Kanda Jhak temple, on the trail going towards Thaytur. The route will be marked and manned by our teams at all major forks & turns.

We will be opening two categories –

  • 24 kms
  • 12 kms (turn back from Matholi Village)

How to reach start point ?

The start point is at Jabarkhet located on the Tehri Road. This is exactly 1.4 kms from the main gate of Woodstock School in Landour and 1.2 kms from Bhataghat Chowk, that is a junction on Tehri Road & New bypass road (Chamba-Mussoorie road).  A google map location can be accessed here (click here)

The elevation profile map will be shared below along with route maps of the two categories. The map for the 24 km category

For the 2020 edition, registrations will open on the 16th November 2019. Click here to register

Registration fees for the two categories –

  • 12 km – Rs. 1600 + 5 % gst.
  • 24 km – Rs. 2200 + 5 % gst.

The fee includes –

  • Hydration & energy food support on trail route with stations every 1.5-2 km.
  • Medical first aid and evacuation to nearest road head.
  • Race BIB & T-shirt.
  • Finisher’s medal.

The run will be held in March when temperatures will be pleasant. However, an early morning start and 7,500 ft of max. altitude will ensure windy & chilly weather for a part of the race for which runners need to be ready. Here’s a list of compulsory items you need to carry for the run.

  • Wind & water resistant outer shell.
  • Handheld sipper or hydration pack.
  • Whistle – Even though the route is fairly simple and will be well marked, in case of any emergency a whistle will be handy for us to know that you need help.

Aid stations will be provided at a gap of 1.5 – 2 kms. These will be water refill points with big capacity water cans. No 200 ml water bottles will be provided, so carrying a handheld sipper or hydration pack is compulsory. This is done to avoid generating plastic waste and littering the area.

We will come up with a time limit for both categories that will be updated here soon.
