Mussoorie Urban Trail (MUT)

The idea behind Mussoorie Urban Trail is to take you away from the usual path/road you run on, to a setting that will introduce you to the beauty of trail running. The 21 Km route that’s back and forth from Hathipaon close to Mussoorie towards Bhadraj Temple and back is a mix of paved path to rocky jungle trail that goes through a lush green forest cover. You touch 7,200 ft. of max altitude at Bhadraj Temple top. The first edition was successfully held in October 2018, and we are coming back this year with the 2nd edition on 6th October (Sunday).

The run goes through Clouds end and Dhudli Village that is sparsely populated, towards Bhadraj Temple that is of great local significance. We will be opening 3 categories-

— 11 Km

— 21 Km

— 42 Km

Below are the details of race route and the altitude profile. All 3 categories start at Hathipaon and finish back at Hathipaon. 11 Km category runners turn back at Dhudli Village. 21 Km category runners go till Bhadraj Temple top and turn back towards Hathipaon. 42 Km runners do the course twice over.

The race will be open with 3 categories to choose from. The online registrations for the 2019 race are now open. Click here to register. And keep following our Facebook page for all updates.

Registration fee for the 3 categories

  • 11 km – Rs. 1,500 (incl. taxes)
  • 21 km – Rs. 2,100 (incl. taxes)
  • 42 km – Rs. 3,300 (incl. taxes)

What does the fee include ?
1) The aid station support with water, energy drink and energy food items.

2) Medical first-aid support.

3) Even t-shirt & finishers medal.

The run is held in October when temperatures will be pleasant. However, an early morning start and 7,200 ft of max. altitude will ensure windy & chilly weather for a part of the race for which runners need to be ready. Here’s a list of compulsory items you need to carry for the run.

  • Wind & water resistant outer shell.
  • Handheld sipper or hydration pack.
  • Whistle – Even though the route is fairly simple and well marked, in case of any emergency a whistle will be handy for us to know that you need help.

Stations with aid support will be provided at a gap of 2-3 kms. These will be water refill points with big capacity water cans. No 200 ml water bottles will be provided, so carrying a handheld sipper or hydration pack is compulsory. This is done to avoid generating plastic waste and littering the area.

We will strictly follow the cut-offs for the 3 categories for safety reasons-

  • 11 Km – 2 hrs
  • 21 Km – 4 hrs
  • 42 Km – Final cut-off 8 hrs. Need to complete the 1st half (21 Km) in 3 hrs 45 mins.
