Your La Ultra.
Your La Ultra is not about running an ultramarathon. It is about taking on the distance, goal or journey that currently feels beyond you.
For one person that may be a first 10K. For another, a half marathon. For someone else, a full marathon. It may also mean returning to running after years away, learning to run without repeatedly getting injured, or finally becoming consistent enough to enjoy the process. The distance changes. The process of becoming ready does not.
Moving mountains within.
YLU also happens to stand for Why Love You? Because if you do not, who will? Running is serious enough already. Your journey can still have ambition, discipline and structure without losing its playfulness.
La Ultra – The High began in Ladakh in 2010 as a 222-kilometre ultramarathon across two of the highest motorable mountain passes in the world. But La Ultra was never only about running an extreme distance. Its philosophy was Moving Mountains Within: taking on something you once thought, or had been told, was beyond you.
Your La Ultra brings that philosophy to runners preparing for very different distances. Yours may be:
This is not about proving how much suffering you can tolerate. It is about discovering how far you can go when you prepare intelligently, understand your body and keep showing up.
Different distances. Same foundations.
A 10K, half marathon and full marathon are very different distances. Weekly mileage, long runs, progression and recovery needs cannot be identical, and they will not be.
A first 10K, or a happier one. Building a base that holds, at an effort you can sustain and enjoy.
Twenty-one kilometres, prepared for properly. Long-run progression, strength and recovery that hold up.
The marathon, approached honestly. Suitability depends on your existing running base, and we will say so plainly.
Underneath those different plans, runners need many of the same foundations. To know where they are starting from. A goal that makes sense for them now. To build gradually, become stronger, recover better and understand what pain is trying to tell them.
They also need to know what to do when work, travel, illness, family commitments or life barges into the perfectly organised training plan.
Because life has never shown much respect for running spreadsheets.
Structure, education, guidance.
A personalised starting point
You begin with a detailed questionnaire covering your running history, present fitness, goals, injuries, health, available time and current challenges. We help you choose a goal ambitious enough to excite you, but sensible enough to prepare for well.
A goal-specific running pathway
A structured pathway for your 10K, half marathon or marathon journey, based on where you are beginning rather than where somebody else thinks a runner should be.
Two guided sessions
A live guided session to help you become stronger, move better and build the physical capacity that supports your running. Adaptable for different levels, limitations and starting points.
A weekly session with Dr Rajat Chauhan on the decisions that shape a runner's journey. The purpose is not merely to tell you what to do. It is to help you understand why.
Progress reviews & adjustments
Your progress is reviewed during the programme. Training may need to change because of pain, illness, fatigue, work pressure, travel, missed sessions, or progress that is faster or slower than expected.
Adapting the plan is not failing the plan. It is part of learning how to train.
A running community
You train within a cohort of runners working towards different distances but facing many of the same doubts, interruptions and small victories.
You do not need to be the fastest runner in the group. You need to be willing to begin honestly and keep returning.
Running gait analysis
We also look at how you actually run, not only how far. Your running gait is assessed during the programme, and what it shows feeds straight into the strength and mobility work you are given, so the exercises address your own running form rather than a general template.
Form is rarely fixed by being told to run differently. It changes when the strength and mobility underneath it change.
Your La Ultra will provide structure, education and guidance. But the running still has to be done by you.
That is not the unfortunate part. That is where your La Ultra begins.
The particulars.
Suitable for beginner, returning and recreational runners, subject to current fitness and chosen goal. For runners considering a full marathon, the suitability of a 13-week pathway will depend on their existing running base. Someone beginning from very little running may need a longer journey before attempting the marathon itself.
Choosing a different goal is not thinking smaller. Sometimes it is the most intelligent way to go farther.
Register for Your La Ultra.
Tell us where you are starting from, what you are working towards and what has been getting in your way, then reserve your place. Your answers are what we use to decide which running pathway suits you, and we read every one of them before the cohort begins.
